Why we started
Return rules change often, and most advice about them doesn't keep up.
Return policies are written for the store, not for you. The window depends on the item, the receipt rules change at the register, and a holiday extension from last year may not apply this year. Most of the help online is a copy of a copy, with no date on it.
Retail Returns Policy launched on June 1, 2026 to do this one thing properly: tell US shoppers what a store allows today, show where that comes from, and say what to do when it goes wrong.

How we work
The same five steps for every guide, in this order.
Start from the store's own terms
The retailer's return policy page, help center and published exceptions. Never another site's summary.
Capture the fine print
Windows by category, receipt and no-receipt rules, condition rules, fees, holiday changes and the return channels the store accepts.
Write it in plain English
A short answer first, then the details, with the store's own wording quoted wherever a rule is surprising or disputed.
A second person checks it
Aman re-opens the sources for the figures that matter and signs off only when each one traces back to them.
Date it, then check it again
Every guide shows when it was last checked. We review every guide at least once every 12 months, and within 14 business days when a store changes its rules.
